THE HANDMEDAL PROJECT + COVID-19

RECOGNITION of OUR FRONTLINE HEALTHCARE WORKERS
In this time of COVID, I wanted to share with you a project I have been working on over the summer called the Hand Medal Project! I was part of thousands of jewelry artists all over the world making medals in the shape of hands to be given as recognition to healthcare workers and first responders.
A small gesture to say THANK YOU for their tireless work and courage during this pandemic.
I am #569 out of 3123 makers involved in this wonderful project in graditude!

Here's a bird's eye view of my process making my batch of Handmedals. These will be textured with a hammer and then they go into the tumbler!

Here in the Southwest we are all familiar with this hand Milagro. It is a symbol of healing, compassion and protection in so many cultures - from the Middle East to Spain and eventually to the Americas. I keep this close above my workbench.
