5,000 Years of Adornment on Display

5,000 Years of Adornment on Display

Elisabeth Treskow.  Grape Brooch. Essen Germany. 1941. Gold, diamonds, pearls. PFORZHEIM JEWELRY MUSEUM.

After having heard so much about Germany’s “Golden City”, I decided during a recent trip to Europe to visit the much acclaimed Pforzheim Jewelry Museum (Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim im Reuchlinhaus.) My visit did not disappoint! The displays reveal the immense diversity of jewelry design and metalsmithing over five thousand years! This well-curated collection is a definite must see for all jewelry–lovers, be they historians, designers, manufacturers, collectors, or just plain consumers. . .

My article on the Museum has been published in the American Society of Jewelry Historians Winter Newsletter. If you would like to have a copy, contact me at info@bhwydesigns.com.
