CONTEMPORARY FLAIR COMES TO AN HISTORIC ADOBE BARN ON CANYON ROAD
DBS FINE ART, 821 CANYON ROAD, #5 was once the home of a glass blowing studio, folk museum and many artist workspaces. The barn and adjoining stables date back to the 1830s. Honored to be part of its history, our new group of six local artists — four painters, a ceramicist and (me) jewelry designer.
The gallery’s four wall artists are Bonnie Binkert whose vibrant works are inspired by the light, culture and natural beauty of the southwest landscape; Casey Crowley, whose works arise from his years spent in Sicily; Marilyn McEvoy, abstract artist, features works in bold colors and dynamic compositions; and Debra Self, gallery owner, whose abstracted Chinese calligraphy creations incorporate traditional Chinese ink, unsized Chinese paper, Chinese ink brushes or bamboo pens. Ceramicist Keith Bailey’s exquisite Raku pottery derives from the ancient Japanese technique created for the tea ceremony. Jewelry designer, metalsmith and graduate gemologist, Barbara Weber Yoffee, offers custom pieces, inspired by ancient archeological treasures using materials collected from all over the world.
